The State of Colorado website is reporting the Covid-19 variants B.1.1.7, B.1.427/429 and the delta variant B.1.617.2, are now present in Montezuma County.
Covid-19 variant B.1.1.7 is a more highly transmissible variant of SARS-CoV-2 with a higher mortality rate.
Studies have shown that the two mutated strains discovered in California, known as B.1.427 and B.1.429, are about 20
percent more transmissible than the original strain of the coronavirus and more resilient against treatments.
Estimates from the U.K. have said that Delta may be 40 or 50 percent more transmissible than the original strain of the coronavirus.
